Biography

Lieutenant Commander Adam T. Biggs is a native of the Saint Louis metropolitan area.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts from McKendree University in Psychology during 2006, later completing a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Notre Dame during 2012 before postdoctoral work at Duke University. He was commissioned through Officer Development School in August 2015 as a Research Psychologist of the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps.

LCDR Biggs was first assigned to the Naval Medical Research Unit Dayton in 2015, where he focused on combat marksmanship programs. He later became Director of Biomedical Research at Naval Special Warfare Command in 2019. His primary efforts included oversight and development of the Cognitive Performance Program and force health protection policy during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he served as primary science advisor to the force surgeon. He subsequently served as Associate Science Director for Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific. LCDR Biggs also assumed duties as Research Psychologist at the Naval Health Research Center in September 2023 before attending the Command and General Staff Officers’ Course in 2024. He currently serves as an assistant professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in the Department for Health Professions Education. To date, his published work includes over 125 peer-reviewed scientific articles and naval essays across more than 75 different professional journals.

LCDR Biggs is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon (with E device), and Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon (with E device).  He has received the Arthur W. Melton Early Career Achievement Award and Charles S. Gersoni Military Psychology Award for outstanding contributions to military psychology from the American Psychological Association, and the Dolores M. Etter Top Scientists and Engineers Award from the Department of the Navy.
