Systems-based strategies to reduce waste throughout healthcare

Biography

After growing up in New Jersey, Dr. Sadowski attended the United States Naval Academy, graduating with distinction in 2009 after being named a Trident Scholar. He then matriculated to the Georgetown University School of Medicine, graduating cum laude in 2013. 

From there, he served as a house officer in Internal Medicine for internship and residency from 2013-2016, running numerous quality improvement initiatives which were shown to save the command upwards of $2 million dollars due to reducing in inappropriate testing.  He was served as chief of medical residents from 2016-2017 before beginning fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.  He completed additional training in Transplant Hepatology at the Medstar Georgetown Transplant Institute.  During this time he served in the American College of Gastroenterology Young Physician Leadership Scholars Program in 2018-2019.  He completed his initial post-training tour as staff at NMC Portsmouth before assume the role of Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director at NMC San Diego in 2022. He holds board certifications in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology.

He has been recognized locally and nationally with several awards related to service to graduate medical education and quality improvement including the David C. Leach Award from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety Award from the Military Health System in 2017, among various other teaching and mentorship awards.

He has published over 30 peer reviewed articles including in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Military Medicine, and Hepatology and currently services as associated editor for the Journal of Graduate Medical Education in addition to numerous committees for the American College of Gastroenterology.
