Biography

Dr. Courtney Anne Judd is a distinguished academic pediatrician and a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force Medical Corps. She currently works as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and is the Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University (USU) School of Medicine. With a career spanning over two decades in military medicine, Dr. Judd has established herself as a leader in medical education and pediatric clinical practice.

Dr. Judd’s academic journey is marked by a strong foundation in both clinical medicine and educational leadership. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia and completed her pediatric residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC). She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of South Florida and a Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) from USU.

Her leadership experience includes serving as the Director of the Pediatric Education Division at USU, Associate Program Director for the SAUSHEC Pediatrics Residency, and Consultant for General Pediatrics to the Air Force Surgeon General

Dr. Judd’s clinical expertise is centered on General Academic Pediatrics and Hospitalist Medicine. She is clinically active in both Inpatient and Outpatient Pediatric Care, providing comprehensive clinical supervision and direct patient care on the pediatric wards and in the outpatient clinic at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. 

Dr. Judd has significant experience in humanitarian and deployment medicine, including serving as the sole pediatrician at a Role III hospital in Afghanistan in 2014 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and participating in medical missions to the Philippines and Honduras.

Her research focuses on curricular development, clinical competency, and the "hidden curriculum" in medical education.

Recognized for her excellence in teaching, Dr. Judd has received numerous accolades, including the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Faculty Award and being named the Alpha Omega Alpha Faculty Teacher of the Year at USU. She is an active fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds leadership positions within the AAP and the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP).
