Biography
Dr. Adams is an associate professor of pediatrics, board certified in pediatrics, pediatric infectious diseases, and pediatric hospital medicine, and holds a certificate of knowledge in clinical tropical medicine and traveler's health. After graduating from USUHS SOM in 2009 he stayed in the National Capitol region to complete his pediatrics residency and infectious disease fellowship. In 2015 he joined the pediatrics department at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP), where he served as a pediatric hospitalist, pediatric infectious disease staff, and core teaching faculty for the combined Air Force/Navy pediatrics residency program and USU medical student clerkship. Following a 17 year active duty Air Force career, Lt Col Adams transferred to the USAFR where he serves as Chief of Aerospace Medicine for the 920th Aerospace Medicine Squadron.
Dr. Adams joined the USU pediatrics department in 2023 as regional faculty at NMCP, where he serves as USU medical student clerkship site director and core residency teaching faculty. He is passionate about teaching learners at all levels, mentoring residents and junior faculty, and delivering high-quality care to the world's best patients and their families. His research contributions include modern updates to the microbiology and epidemiology of various pediatric infections as well as exploring risk factors for and outcomes of antimicrobial-resistant infections in both children and adults.
