Dr. David S. Priemer is a Anatomic Pathologist and Neuropathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology, and holds an active license to practice medicine in the state of Maryland. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology for the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine, and the Associate Director of the Department of War/Uniformed Services University Brain Tissue Repository (DoW/USU BTR). The mission of the DoW/USU BTR is to collect, analyze, and research brains donated from deceased military service members, and additionally make such tissues available to other researchers, toward the pursuit of an understanding of the effects of a military career on brain health, with a primary focus on traumatic brain injury. Dr. Priemer also functions within the USU School of Medicine as a committed educator, particularly within all aspects of the pathology curriculum (all body systems). In this capacity, Dr. Priemer has mentored numerous medical students in their educational and professional pursuits, and has guided a subset of these students through projects that have culminated in presentations at national meetings and a number of peer-reviewed articles.

Prior to joining USU and the DoW/USU BTR, Dr. Priemer completed his training in Anatomic pathology and Neuropathology, and further subspecialized in Autopsy Pathology as an Instructor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has published a variety of manuscripts in the fields of neuropathology, autopsy pathology, and surgical pathology, have presented numerous studies at national and international pathology meetings, and maintains active research interests in neuropathology (including traumatic brain injury, neurodegeneration, forensic neuropathology) and autopsy pathology. Dr. Priemer serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology, and formerly was the Lead Editor for the College of American Pathologists Autopsy Committee.
