Jamie Carreno Davidson

Dr. Jamie T. Carreno Davidson is a psychologist, military officer, educator, and researcher whose work focuses on optimizing behavioral health, leadership, resilience, and operational readiness within military populations. She currently serves as Deputy Professor of Military Science in the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine at the Uniformed Services University and has held previous leadership positions across the Department of Defense, including Director of the Research Transition Office and Deputy Director of the Department of Military Psychiatry at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Across her career, she has integrated clinical psychology, operational military experience, implementation science, and systems-level leadership to improve force health protection and readiness outcomes.

Dr. Davidson’s research program centers on military behavioral health, suicide prevention, psychological resilience, return-to-duty practices, and the operational impact of behavioral health conditions in military populations. Her work has included principal investigator and co-investigator roles on federally funded studies examining suicide prevention interventions, stigma and barriers to care, behavioral health profiling policies, PTSD assessment, duty limitations, and the performance effects of pharmacologic interventions in military personnel. Her scholarship spans clinical and operational domains, with publications in Military Medicine, Military Behavioral Health, Stigma and Health, and other peer-reviewed journals. Her work reflects a strong emphasis on translating scientific findings into practical policies, programs, and decision-support tools that improve outcomes for Service Members and military healthcare systems.

In addition to her research activities, Dr. Davidson has experience in curriculum development and evaluation for graduate medical education and several Army programs of record focused on performance optimization. She has served as faculty and instructor for the Tripler Army Medical Center psychiatry residency program, clinical psychology training program, and military field practicums, while also leading instruction in areas including resilience, research methodology, process improvement, and combatives. Her educational philosophy emphasizes evidence-based leadership development and the practical application of behavioral science to complex operational environments. Through her combined roles as scientist, clinician, educator, and military leader, Dr. Davidson’s work continues to advance the integration of psychological science into military medicine, leadership training, and organizational performance.
