Research interests
Dr. Lauren Maggio is Professor of Medicine and Health Professions Education at the Uniformed Services University (USU). and the . She also serves as Associate Director of Research for the Center for Health Professions Education (CHPE). Dr. Maggio completed her PhD in health professions education at Utrecht University in collaboration with the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Maggio’s research explores how health information is created, disseminated and used. She has conducted multiple projects to understand how to effectively connect physicians, learners and patients with biomedical information through the design of educational interventions and technical solutions, and by facilitating access to knowledge for public and professional use. She also serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief for Perspectives on Medical Education and a member of the Board of Regents of the National Library of Medicine. Dr. Maggio has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles.
