Biography
Dr. Borgia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics at the Uniformed
Services University of Health Sciences School of Medicine and an Attending Physician at Walter Reed
National Military Medical Center and Alexander T. Augusta National Military Medical Center. She has a
secondary appointment in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics and is honored to be the
President-elect of the University Faculty Senate. Throughout her career, she has been active in training the next
generation of healthcare professionals, having personally worked side by side and completed summative
feedback for over 200 individuals (e.g., OB/GYN residents, undergraduate medical students, PhD candidates,
midwifery students, physician assistant students, and graduate nursing students in women’s health). She
regularly delivers didactic lectures and small group teaching and serves as a multi-disciplinary research mentor
on several projects related to women’s health in the military. Throughout her career, one of her main areas of
focus has been promoting health and physical readiness in midlife Active Duty women, Veterans, and other
female Tricare beneficiaries. She initiated one of the first Midlife Telehealth Clinic for Women at AT Augusta Military
Medical Center and is now actively involved in a similar and larger effort that provides this type of care for
Active Duty Servicemembers and their Dependents across the nation and around the world. Current efforts
include collaboration on a menopause lecture series for the Defense Health Agency, as well as development of
a short course in midlife women’s health for the National Defense University. In addition to gynecologic
surgery and obstetrics, Dr. Borgia's clinical and research interests include military readiness in female servicemembers
across their lifespan, midlife care to include management of perimenopause and menopause, lifestyle
medicine, as well as obesity medicine and prevention. Dr. Borgia is a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army
from 2007 to 2023. She is a 2011 graduate of the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine. As a Medical Corps Officer and physician, she served as an Assistant Department Chief and
then Department Chief at Medical Centers in the Republic of Korea and Germany. Among other honors, she was
awarded Joint Service Commendation Medal for her leadership in teaching and assessing over 150 graduate
and undergraduate medical professionals from the various uniformed services, as well as a Meritorious Service
Medal for her role as the OBGYN Division Chief at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, which included leading
the Medical Center’s women’s health response to the 2021 Afghanistan evacuation.
