Biography
Logan C. Peterson, MD, FACOG completed his Bachelor of Arts degrees in biology and chemistry at Drury University in 2009. He subsequently received a Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Army and earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2013. He completed internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington in 2017. Dr. Peterson then served as an attending physician at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland with the US Army until July 2021. While at Walter Reed, he deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve to Kuwait and Iraq. He also served as the Director of Simulation Training for the Department of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics as well as the Medical Director for the Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Exam program at Walter Reed.
After completion of his military service, Dr. Peterson joined the faculty of the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences as an Assistant Professor of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics where he currently serves as Vice Chair of Education and Director of Clinical Clerkships for the Department of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics. In addition to his academic roles, he continues to see patients at Walter Reed and assist with simulation training for the department.
Dr. Peterson has a particular interest in patient safety and quality and since 2018 has served as the lead instructor for the Emergencies in Clinical Obstetrics course in the National Capital Region. He also serves as adjunct faculty for the American College of Surgeons’ Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma course.
Dr. Peterson is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His research interests include student education, contraception, as well as patient safety and quality.
