Personal profile
Biography
My name is Michal Sobieszczyk and I am a seventh year Interventional Pulmonary and Critical Care
Physician at BAMC. I was born in Poznan, Poland and immigrated to the United States with my family
when I was twelve years old. I did my undergraduate work at Tufts University in Medford MA. Following
graduation I was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Camp Lejeune NC with
1 st Battalion 2 nd Marines Regiment, 2 nd Marine Division. Went on a few deployments, learned some things
and decided to get out and pursue medicine. I eventually entered USUHS Medical School, did my
residency and fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington D.C. I was
fortunate enough to have the opportunity to complete an Interventional Pulmonary fellowship while in
D.C. My professional and research interests include ECMO, Interventional Pulmonology and Critical Care
Medicine. As staff I had the amazing opportunity to deploy twice as an intensivist with a small surgical
and resuscitative team to East Africa, the Expeditionary Resuscitative Surgical Team. I enjoy working
with fellows and residents, empowering them to be independent clinicians and thinkers and teaching
procedural mastery in all things bronchoscopy, bedside percutaneous tracheostomy and managing
challenging airways and lines in the ICU. My personal hobbies include running and cycling in the
mountains, rock climbing and spending time with my family, preferable somewhere outside in the
mountains.
