Biography

Colonel Nicole M. Giamanco is a 2006 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She received a direct commission into the United States Army as a Physician in the Medical Corps in June of 2006 through the Health Professions Scholarship Program.

She completed her Pediatric Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, Fort Lewis, Washington. During her time at MAMC, she was appointed as Instructor of Pediatrics for the Uniformed Services University, Bethesda, MD.

In 2009 COL Giamanco was stationed in Korea serving as the Chief of Area I Pediatric Care and the Camp Casey Immunization Director at Camp Casey Army Health Clinic.

Following her time in Korea, COL Giamanco was stationed in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, where she completed a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.  While at WRNMMC, she was active in research, presenting at several conferences per year, and resident education earning her The Joint Service Commendation Medal.

After Fellowship, COL Giamanco returned to Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord where she served as the Chief of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and the USUHS Pediatric Clerkship Co-Director.  During her time at MAMC, she was promoted to Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for the Uniformed Services University, Bethesda, MD.  She then volunteered to serve as the 42D MP BDE Surgeon for two years at Joint Base Lewis-McChord earning The Meritorious Service Medal for her contribution to the BDE.

Upon completion of her readiness tour, COL Giamanco was assigned to Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii where she served as Chief of the Department of Pediatric Hematology.  She quickly became the Assistant Chief of Pediatrics Specialties and then after four years on station accepted the role of Chief of Pediatrics Specialties.  One year later she became dual-hatted as the Deputy Chief of Pediatrics. In 2024 she became the Chief of Pediatrics. While at TAMC, she was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics for the Uniformed Services University, Bethesda, MD.  She also served as the temporary Warrior Transition Unit Battalion Surgeon and the Medical Records Committee Co-Chair, as well as volunteering as a Fort Knox SRP Provider to support the 2023 Cadet Summer Training.  While stationed at Tripler, she attended the Army Reserve Intermediate Level Education at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

COL Giamanco's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with silver Oak Leaf Cluster, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Superior Unit Award, the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.  She is a Board-Certified Pediatrician, a Board-Certified Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist, a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and a recipient of the Army Surgeon General's 9A designator for professional excellence as well as the Order of Military Medical Merit.

COL Giamanco is married to Mr. Joseph Maloney.​​
