My research program explores the fundamental intersection of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axes in shaping behavior and physiology. Grounded in my training as a reproductive neuroendocrinologist and neuroanatomist, I have established a research framework focused on uncovering the neural circuitry and molecular underpinnings governing both gonadotropin-releasing hormone regulation and the stress response. Specifically, my work investigates how sex hormones and traumatic insults—such as mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) and sleep restriction—interact to drive sex-dependent biological outcomes, neuroimmune dysregulation, and the development of stress-related disorders.
