Project Details

Description

The Foundation's Change Leadership Program was designed to support the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Leadership for Better Health's four national program centers, the cross-program Fall Leadership Institute, and the RWJF Coordinating Center for the change leadership programs authorization.Further, the Foundation's Culture of Health Leaders program will develop a large cadre of leaders from diverse sectors to work with organizations, communities, health systems, and policymakers to build a Culture of Health in America. This grant supports participation in the RWJF Culture of Health Leaders program, during which participants will complete a leadership-development curriculum and individual and collaborative projects that help them advance health equity--at local, state, and national levels. RWJF expects participants to spend 32 to 38 hours a month on program-related activities, including virtual and/or in-person meetings, distance learning, one-on-one development opportunities, reflective practice, peer-to-peer learning, small-group projects, and large-group experiences that focus on 'learning by doing.' Permissible uses of stipends, as determined jointly by the grantee institution and participants, include defraying salary/release time, living expenses, consultant fees, relevant conference/workshop registration fees, program-related travel and supplies, and executive education. In the program's year 2, participants must submit a plan and budget for a community-based initiative to promote a Culture of Health. Upon approval of the plan and budget, the Foundation will release project funds of up to $35,000 to the grantee institution on behalf of the participant for implementation and evaluation of the initiative. Participants may not use stipends or project funds to: (1) support clinical trials of unapproved drugs or devices; (2) construct or renovate facilities; or (3) engage in lobbying or political activities. A participant may request a transfer of grant funds to another sponsoring institution because of, for example, a change in the participant's affiliation with the grantee.
