Description

The STAR Act charges the Department of Health and Human Services to advance care for pediatric cancer patients by piloting different models of care, conducting research on causes of disparities and late effects and follow-up care, and developing workgroups to inform standards and education curricula. The National Cancer Institute will transfer funds to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality in FY20 to fund a series of AHRQ Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) Program reviews to inform the research agendas and workgroups to improve care of pediatric cancer survivors. The products and topics will include: ? 1 Large topic refinement (TR) and 1 Large systematic review (SR) on Transitions of Care from Pediatric to Adult Services for Children with Special Healthcare Needs; ? 1 Technical Brief (TB) on Disparities and Barriers for Pediatric Cancer Survivorship Care; and ? 1 large TR and 1 Medium SR Realist Review on Models of Pediatric Cancer Survivorship Care that includes Primary Care.
