Abstract

Since 2003, the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Strategic Scientific Initiatives (CSSI) has worked to develop the resources and infrastructures investigators need to surmount roadblocks in cancer research. This includes supporting individual investigators through the Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies (IMAT) and Provocative Questions (PQ) programs and large network programs like the Clinical Proteomics Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC), which offers resources like the CPTAC Antibody Portal. Beyond grant-based support, CSSI also provides a network of interdisciplinary experts and partners in industry and government that can help researchers advance their technologies toward commercialization and translation. The scope of this paper will include grant opportunities and resources most relevant to members of the Electrochemical Society. It will also highlight two success stories from CSSI-managed programs.
