Abstract

Pulmonary embolism diagnosis and treatment pose a clinical dilemma across a wide array of specialties. Non-specific signs and symptoms, high incidence, prevalent risk factors, and potentially lethal complications have prompted a great effort for research aimed at prevention, detection, and treatment of pulmonary embolism. This chapter seeks to summarize the current knowledge in this field.
