Abstract
A trial of propranolol for the treatment of vasomotor symptoms was conducted among 37 menopausal women in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover fashion. When compared with placebo, propranolol had a statistically significant effect on the reduction of both the frequency and severity of vasomotor symptoms (P<0.01). In selected patients, propranolol may be an alternative to the treatment of vasomotor symptoms with exogenous estrogens.
