Abstract
Military psychiatrists face multiple unique issues in combat and at home. At the root of many of these issues is the question "For whom does the psychiatrist work-the service member-patient or the military?" We review several of the key issues faced by a military psychiatrist, including confidentiality, informed consent, dual agency, boundaries, dealing with detainees, determining fitness for deployments, treatment in combat, and separation from the military.
