Abstract

Image synthesis and superresolution have a long history of research and use in medical imaging. Recently, with the emergence of powerful machine learning methods, both processes have risen to new levels of capability. This chapter presents some historical and technical background in each of these areas and describes some of the new approaches. Magnetic resonance imaging is the primary modality considered.
