Abstract

Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a complex clinical condition that presents a challenge to every critical care team. The nurse's role calls for ongoing bedside assessment and monitoring in addition to administration of evidence-based interventions that focus on promoting gas exchange and eliminating excessive oxygen demand. These responsibilities play a vital role in achieving positive outcomes for patients with ARDS.
