Abstract

HLA-B27-associated uveitis is a potentially sight-threatening inflammatory eye disease that may be linked to an underlying systemic disease in approximately 30% of cases. This chapter highlights the importance of collaboration between ophthalmologists and rheumatologists in effectively diagnosing and managing these conditions. Early diagnosis and a multidisciplinary approach are crucial for optimizing patient outcomes and preventing vision loss. The chapter discusses the epidemiology of HLA-B27-associated disease, clinical features of HLA-B27-associated spondyloarthropathy and uveitis, treatment modalities, and potential ocular complications of this common form of uveitis.
