Abstract
The present study reports the performance of a group of 24 patients taking BZ medication chronically on a battery of psychomotor, cognitive, and subjective tests. The first part of the study examined the baseline psychomotor performance of the chronic BZ users in an attempt to assess their psychomotor performance as they might normally appear in their daily activities. Their test scores were compred with a matched group of untreated anxious patients. The second part of the study examined the effects of acute administration of medically prescribed doses of BZ medication in those patients that have been taking BZ medication for years.
