Abstract

Vigilance is fundamentally important to all other aspects of cognition. The psychomotor vigilance task (PVT) is a test of behavioral alertness via sustained attention demands, is free of aptitude and learning effects, and is sensitive to sleep loss, sleep pathology, and functioning at an adverse circadian phase.
