Abstract

1. 1. Traumatic rupture of the abdominal aorta with survival is unusual. 2. 2. The development of a false aneurysm of the abdominal aorta following trauma is rare. 3. 3. Successful repair of a false aneurysm of the abdominal aorta is extremely rare. 4. 4. Repair of a false aneurysm of the abdominal aorta in a Vietnam casualty represents at least the second such successful repair to be documented. 5. 5. Lateral suture of the wall of the aorta was possible in the repair of the false aneurysm. A false aneurysm of the splenic artery was also treated. 6. 6. The active duty soldier is asymptomatic at the time of his one year postoperative follow-up.
