Abstract

Liver transplant can offer improved overall survival in patients with nonresectable colorectal liver metastases attributed to enhanced multidisciplinary care and better patient selection and management of post-transplant immunosuppression. The Fong score, the Oslo score, PET MTV liver uptake values, tumor location (right-sided or not), histological differentiation, lymph node status of the primary cancer, and tumor genetic mutations all contribute to the outcome of patients receiving liver transplantation for nCRLM. The marginal allografts (grafts from donors with extended criteria) offered inferior outcomes but have been improving over the last 2decades, trending toward those seen with the “perfect” liver allograft.
