note = "Funding Information: The mission for providing care at military treatment facilities in the United States no longer rests with the Army, Navy, or Air Force, but has been assigned to the Defense Health Agency. The Joint Trauma System has also transitioned to the Defense Health Agency, a shift that broadens the reach and scope of the Joint Trauma System as it solidifies its role as the “go-to” source for trauma care in the DoD. Medical research continues with varying degrees of investment from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, although research supported by the Defense Health Program, and that conducted at the Uniformed Services University play a larger role proportionally. The full impact of these sweeping changes is yet to be determined, but there is no question that transformation is upon us. While this unique period presents challenges, it also comes with responsibility and opportunity.",
